Mustard Seed Stitchery was born from a search for things worth keeping.
We started with Lost Art Gift Co., curating well-made everyday objects from makers and brands we believed in. The more we searched, the more we became interested in what made certain objects last—and why so many others didn’t.
Eventually, looking wasn’t enough.
We decided to build our own.
WHY WE MAKE THEM
Before Mustard Seed Stitchery, we built and ran Lost Art Gift Co.—a collection of everyday objects chosen around a simple idea: find things that are genuinely well made, useful and worth keeping. We spent years looking for products that met that standard. Eventually, we started asking a different question:
What if we built them ourselves?
Instead of continuing to search for the right bag, we decided to engineer our own. We studied the materials, construction and details that make a bag worth keeping, then began building our own from the ground up—heavy canvas, full-grain leather, solid hardware and careful hand finishing. The Mustard Seed Stitchery grew out of that process.
We aren’t interested in making disposable bags or chasing whatever happens to be popular this year.
We want to make useful things, make them well, and make them worth keeping.
That’s the standard.

Every MSS bag starts with new materials. The worn appearance is intentional.
Canvas is finished and worked by hand. Leather is selected for its character and durability. Hardware is chosen for how it looks, feels and holds up.
The result is a bag that looks like it has a history before it has one.
The wear is intentional. The bag is brand new.
NO TWO ALIKE.
We build our bags from established constructions, but we don’t try to make every piece look identical.
Each bag is individually finished. Variations in canvas, leather, markings and finish make every piece its own.
You aren’t choosing a bag from a photograph of what your bag might look like.
You’re choosing the bag itself.

Mustard Seed Stitchery is based in Tucson, Arizona. We make our bags here, by hand, in small quantities.
There’s something appropriate about making hard-wearing equipment in a place like this. Tucson has always been a place where things are used hard, repaired, adapted and kept around. That’s the kind of life we design our bags for.

We believe a good bag doesn’t need much explaining.
It should carry what you need.
It should hold up when you use it.
It should become better looking with time.
And it should be something you don’t need to replace next year.

WHY “MUSTARD SEED”?
The name comes from Jesus’ words about faith the size of a mustard seed.
Every time we read Matthew 17:20, we’re reminded to trust God through every season – through joy and sorrow, through abundance and uncertainty. To have faith in Him even when we cannot see what lies ahead.
Jesus tells us that even faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.
That is the heart behind Mustard Seed Stitchery: faith in God, trust in His plan, and the reminder that He can do great things through even the smallest beginning.
